Man buried in Snickers-themed coffin

He Snickered in the face of death.

An English man who loved candy and made a playful request for a coffin inspired by Snickers had his wish come true when he was laid to rest in a casket designed to look like the popular chocolate bar.

Paul Broome, who worked as a Care Assistant at a home for adults with learning disabilities, would often allude to the pea-nutty idea, to the amazement of friends and family.

Broome was known for his “quick wit and mischievous sense of humor,” the deceased’s loved ones told South West News Service.

His loved ones dismissed the rib-tickling request as a goof — until the beloved Brit died and they saw that he’d put this unorthodox request in his will.

So they decided to grant Broome’s dying wish, which they felt was the perfect way to honor the funnyman’s memory.

The bereaved relatives interred the departed in a coffin that was designed to look like a partially unwrapped Snickers Bar.

It even had the phrase “I’m nuts!” painted on the side in homage to the Brit’s zany sense of humor.

“Paul’s family informed us that he was one of life’s true characters, and his farewell needed to reflect that,” said Ali Leggo, Funeral Arranger at F A Holland (Co-op) Funeralcare in Chichester, which arranged the off-the-wall ceremony.

“His quick wit and sense of humor touched so many people, and the coffin was a fitting tribute to his unique personality,” she said.

The bar-cophagus also featured a Crystal Palace FC logo because Broome, who was originally from South London, was a devoted supporter of the soccer club.

During the funeral, the procession passed by Paul’s favorite café in Bognor Regis — where friends in custom tribute T-shirts applauded as he made his final journey in his candy-inspired coffin.

“The family received nothing but positive feedback from those who attended, with many commenting on how the personal touches made the service a true celebration of Paul’s life,” said Leggo. “It was a privilege to help his family bring his final wishes to life.”

In a similarly bizarre postmortem ritual in 2021, one man’s kids fulfilled his dying wish by pouring his ashes down a bar drain.
