THE “world’s smallest holiday home” is officially open for bookings after four years of renovations.

The tiny home measures just 11 sq ft across two floors, and can’t even fit a staircase inside.

Marita Hannemann-Moos and her husband Andrea Moos began renovating the disused brick house in their sleepy German village four years ago.

The couple already had two other holiday apartments and couldn’t resist the challenge after finding the building for sale for just £1.

The pair are now vying for a Guinness World Record as they believe the holiday home is the smallest of its kind across the globe.

The tiny home is surprisingly spacious, with the ground floor complete with a compact bathroom, with a shower and underfloor heating.

Meanwhile, an external staircase leads to the kitchen well-equipped with a kettle, sink, microwave, and small stove, as well as a mini fridge-freezer.

There is also a table and two chairs tucked away beside one of the windows, and a sofa that extends into a bed.

Lucky guests will be able to sleep among the stars as they gaze up through the tiny home’s glass roof.

But the renovations came at a cost, and the couple shelled out £161,000 for the transformation, according to Luxury Property News.

This included £44,000 in subsidies and £117,000 in renovations costs.

Marita and Andreas hope to welcome their first bookings soon, with prices from just £92 a night.

Tiny homes are becoming increasingly popular.

A woman has shared how she transformed a £7,000 van into her dream tiny home.

Rita and her dog live in a 2001 Ford Shuttle bus called Wilbur, which she has made into a cosy home.

Rita has happy memories of going on road trips with her grandfather, in his tiny camper van during her childhood.

Determined to continue the family tradition of travelling, Rita decided to ditch her own home for a van and set to work putting her DIY skills to the test.
