A North Carolina man who police say killed three people inside of a home is also the person who allegedly called 911 to report the slayings.
Kevin Musser, 35, is facing three charges of first-degree murder in Bladen County, court records show. According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Greg Dennis, 54-year-old Randy Benton, and 32-year-old Phillip Palmer were killed on March 17 at a residence in Clarkton, a city located some 50 miles west of Wilmington.
At around 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call about a shooting inside a home.
“Deputies responded to the scene where they encountered 35 year old Kevin Musser at the front door of the residence with bloody clothing holding a handgun,” the sheriff’s office statement said. “Musser shut the door and retreated out the back door where deputies quickly found him on the back door steps.”
Musser himself was reportedly suffering from “life threatening injuries,” the sheriff’s office said, and he was airlifted to a hospital. Meanwhile, sheriff’s deputies entered the house and discovered the victims, each of them suffering from “multiple stab wounds.”

Although Musser was initially treated as a person of interest, he was charged with murder the following day.
The sheriff’s office said that a call that came into emergency services at around 7:30 p.m. the night of the slayings was made by Musser himself. According to local NBC affiliate WECT, the voice behind the call initially identified himself as somebody named “Randy.”
The caller told the 911 dispatcher that he had been shot.
“What kind of firearm did he shoot you with?” the dispatcher asks.
“I don’t know,” Musser — then identified as “Randy” — replied.
“Where is he shot at?” the dispatcher pressed.
“I don’t know,” the caller said. “I’m blind. I can’t tell.”
“Is he breathing?” the 911 operator asked.
“No, he’s dead,” Musser replied. “Everyone’s dead.”
“Is he beyond help?” the dispatcher asked.
“Beyond help,” the caller answered.
Although Musser is said to have told 911 that the victims were shot, the sheriff’s office confirmed that the victims were stabbed to death.
In addition to the triple murder charges, Musser is alleged to have possessed methamphetamine and stolen the wallet of one of the victims. Court records show that he remains in custody.
WECT reported that Musser is expected to appear in court again on April 3.
