BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Slater Community Center hosted its Family Night Out event on Friday.
Bristol Tennessee Parks and Recreation said it hosts a Family Night Out monthly to expand its programming and reach community youth. Families enjoyed basketball and freestyle board games and watched the movie Megamind.
“So, we’re looking to expand our programming and to allow the community to come together to allow families to come together and just have a good time,” Jovana Glover, Bristol Tennessee Parks, and Recreation programmer said.
Glover said events like Family Night Out keep youth from harmful and dangerous activities.
“Recreation activities, in general, are very important,” she said. “It creates community. It creates a fun environment. It keeps people off of the streets and doing other things. It’s more safe, and so I’m excited to be a part of recreation and expanding family programs, community programs, and events.”
