The arrest is part of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s statewide initiative to arrest criminals asking children for sex, officials said.

LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. — A 31-year-old man from Land O’ Lakes was charged with seven felonies after a statewide investigation revealed he had sex with a runaway child, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

Michael Durshimer is also accused of arranging transportation for the child to come to his house, where officials said he had sex with her.

The investigation started when the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office reached out to FDLE to assist with a runaway child case. Agents discovered the victim was talking to someone on social media, and learned that she went to his house in Land O’ Lakes on multiple occasions.

FDLE said it worked with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office to identify Durshimer as the suspect through “investigative, forensic and analytical operations.”

He was arrested on March 19, 2025, and booked on a $65,000 bond.

The investigation and arrest were part of a statewide initiative to find and arrest criminals asking children for sex and sending child sexual abuse material, FDLE said.
