AT least three people are dead and 14 injured after a mass shooting that broke out at a park in New Mexico.

Cops have confirmed that two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old boy were killed in the Las Cruces shooting.

Those who have been injured are said to be between the ages of 16 and 36.

The names of those killed and injured are not yet being released.

Shots were fired at around 10pm in Young Park in the city, according to police.

No arrests have yet been made but the authorities have said they are “actively following multiple leads”.

The injured were taken to nearby hospitals including the University Medical Center of El Paso, the regional trauma center.

Cops are urging the public to come forward with any information about the tragic incident.

This includes any videos that may have been taken at the scene as they search for a suspect or number of suspects in the attack.

Any relevant footage should be uploaded to this secure website.

A press conference is scheduled for 11am local time with the scene and surrounding area still closed off to traffic and members of the public.

Las Cruces City Councilor and Mayor Pro Tem Johana Bencomo took to Instagram on Saturday saying to issue a heartbreaking statement.

She said: “Part of me wanted to write that this is something you never really think this is going to happen in your city, but that actually feels deeply untrue.

“Honestly now days a tragedy like this feels like a nightmare just waiting to come true at any possible moment, yet also always praying and hoping it never will.”

In a statement on Facebook, the Las Cruces police department said:

“Police are continuing to investigate Friday night’s shooting at Young Park that killed three and injured 14 others.

“The shooting occurred about 10 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Young Park, 850 S. Walnut St., in Las Cruces, N.M.

“The deceased are two 19-year-old men and one 16-year-old boy.

“Names of the deceased and those who were injured will not be released at this time.

“The injured range in age from 16 years to 36 years.

“At this time, police have not made any arrests for this incident but are actively following multiple leads.”

The case is being investigated by the Las Cruces Police Department who has been joined by New Mexico State Police, the Dona Ana County Sheriffs Office, the FBI, and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
