The planned US visit to Greenland has been criticized by the island’s leader as “very aggressive” amidst the escalating international crisis regarding President Trump’s ambitions to claim the territory.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute B. Egede expressed his concerns in an interview with the Sermitsiaq newspaper, stating, “The very aggressive American pressure against Greenlandic society is now so serious that the level cannot be raised any higher.”

“Until recently, we could trust the Americans, who were our allies and friends, and with whom we enjoyed working closely … But that time is over.”

Egede, a left-wing figure advocating for Greenland’s independence from Denmark, denounced the visit organized by second lady Ushe Vance, White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

The delegation plans to visit from Thursday to Saturday, visit a US military base and watching a dogsled race.
