Zimbabwe’s Warriors will aim to secure their first victory over the Super Eagles in 44 years when both teams clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

The match in Uyo on Tuesday, is a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier for both teams.

The last time Zimbabwe defeated Nigeria was in 1981 during a home friendly.

Since then, both nations have faced each other seven times, with Nigeria winning four and the remaining three ending in draws.

The Warriors have played in Nigeria twice in competitive fixtures, suffering heavy defeats.

In 1989 AFCON qualifier, Nigeria won 3-0. It was followed by 2005 FIFA World Cup qualifier, where Nigeria routed the side 5-1

Their most recent meeting was a 1-1 draw on matchday two of the current World Cup qualifiers, while a 2019 friendly in Lagos ended goalless.

Zimbabwe, led by Michael Nees, will be hoping to rewrite history and claim a rare victory over their West African opponents, who are also keen for a win to better their odds of survival in Group C.
