Taylor Swift's friend Jaime King breaks silence after losing custody of kids

Jaime King has broken her silence after losing custody of her kids to her ex-husband, Kyle Newman.

King, 45, was granted only supervised visits with her sons — James, 11, and Leo, 9 — the latter of whom is singer Taylor Swift’s godson.

The celebrity known as the “Heart of Dixie” faced eviction from her residence in Los Angeles due to owing $42,580 in overdue rent. The landlord took legal action against her and prevented her from accessing the property, as reported by Us Weekly.

In response to the situation, King stated to the media, “The issue with my landlord has been settled privately. It is disheartening to see someone trying to gain attention by exploiting this matter, although it is not unexpected.”

“I am currently focused on what matters most: my children,” she added.

In addition to supervised visits, King had been ordered to finish six months of rehab for drugs and alcohol.

King had been residing in the luxurious Hollywood Hills residence, costing $10,145 per month, since April 2023. According to documents revealed by Us Weekly, she ceased rent payments in January, leading to the eviction.

Her landlord said she was forced to lock King out of the rental property pending payment, claiming that the actress had been “maliciously” remaining at the residence.

However, King’s attorney has since denied the allegations, saying King had been taking acting jobs to pay off the back rent.

Earlier this week, a judge ruled that King, 45, and Newman, 49, will share legal custody of their two children, but the filmmaker will have sole physical custody.

The “White Chicks” actress was given visitation rights, but she will have to be supervised and can only see the boys three times a week.

King’s custody agreement was dramatically changed after she failed to complete a six-month drug and alcohol program that consisted of weekly testing, a 26-week parenting program and both individual and conjoint counseling with her children.

In October 2024, Newman filed for sole custody of the kids after claiming he found his ex-wife “strung out” and “drunk” while watching their sons.

The exes were locked in a lengthy legal battle over finances and custody after King filed for divorce in 2020 after 13 years of marriage. They finally settled their divorce in 2023.
