The leaked text chain with Trump officials discussing a military strike against Yemen’s Houthis earlier this month has been a main topic of conversation on The View this week after The Atlantic journalist Jeffrey Goldberg revealed he was mistakenly added to the chat. With an investigation underway, the co-hosts couldn’t help but scoff at some of the testimonies that have come from Republicans who were allegedly included in the group.

On this morning’s episode of The View, Joy Behar was stunned to see that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard refused to even say whether the contact “TG” stood for her name in the group chat.

“Tulsi Gabbard wouldn’t even say that TG on the chain was her. Who was it? Teresa Giudice?” the comedian joked, referring to The Real Housewives of New Jersey star.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, a self-proclaimed Bravo aficionado, exclaimed, “That was a good one!” Even Whoopi Goldberg added, “That was a really good one.”

Gabbard said she didn’t remember “specific targets” or “specific weapon systems” being named in the group chat. But after reading a transcript of the chain released by The Atlantic, Goldberg said it sounded “a little classified to [her].” The longtime View moderator was even more shocked that no one noticed that the journalist was in the chat to begin with.

“You see that there is a name that shouldn’t be there,” she said. “You can say, ‘No, this isn’t a big deal.’ But this is a big deal. This is a very big deal.”

“They love to say, ‘We’re investigating.’ I don’t know how many more things y’all are going to investigate before you actually have to do it,” she fumed. “This was a mistake and anybody else who did this would be gone. They would be gone!”

Sunny Hostin, on the other hand, speculated that those who denied sending classified information via text message would be facing consequences in due time.

“That’s what’s so problematic to me is that these people are testifying in committee under oath,” she said. “And it is now clear to me, at least as a former federal prosecutor, that they likely perjured themselves. There are consequences to perjury.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
