The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said the man and woman were speeding, which led to them being pulled over and arrested on drug charges.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Jacksonville man and woman were arrested in Clay County on Sunday after being stopped for speeding, which then led police to a “major drug trafficking bust,” the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on Facebook Wednesday.

Duron Raggins, 41, and Chasity Fleming, 35, both face charges of trafficking in cocaine 28 grams less than 150 kilograms, trafficking in methamphetamine 14 grams or over, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, jail records show.

On Sunday, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a deputy stopped Raggins and Fleming on U.S. 17 near Creighton Road. The sheriff’s office said in its Facebook post that the car was driving 62 mph in a 45 mph zone.

During the stop, the deputy discovered Raggins, who was driving the vehicle, had a driver’s license that was “not valid,” his arrest report states.

After the deputy noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and found out that neither Raggins nor Fleming had a medical marijuana card, according to the report, a probable cause search was done on the vehicle.

The search netted the following, according to the sheriff’s office:

  • 79.33 grams of methamphetamine
  • 67.01 grams of cocaine
  • 90.08 grams of marijuana
  • A large amount of drug paraphernalia

Raggins’ arrest report further states that each of the drugs was packaged in a way that indicated it was being sold and/or delivered, having been divided up in separate plastic bags.

Raggins and Fleming were then arrested. The two remain in jail, each with a $330,011 bond.

The sheriff’s office says it gave Raggins written warnings for speeding and unknowingly driving with his license suspended.
