That’s definitely a mama’s boy.

Despite what you’d expect, studies have shown that Gen Z men are more than happy to pick up the tab for the women they’re on a date with.

The situation turned awkward for this distressed woman when her date decided to pull out his mother’s credit card as the tab arrived at the end of the evening.

Sarli, who uses the TikTok handle @sarliunlimited, posted a now-viral video, amassing over 500,000 views, recounting her encounter with what might be one of the most obvious red flags in dating.

The overlay text on her TikTok reads, “last night I had a date and when the bill came, he pulled out his mother’s black amex card…”

Let’s admit it’s odd, but it gets worse. The text continues, “…and he asked, ‘do you want to cover your drink, or should my mom do it?’ lol?”

The bar for dating nowadays is so low, that one can argue — at least he took the initiave by pulling out his wallet. However, where he lost all of us, is the fact that he was not only going to openly pay with his mom’s card, he had the nerve to also ask if his date wanted to pay for her own drink.

Studies have shown that Gen Z women paid for only 2% of the dates they went on — so the odds of Surli wanting to pay for her measly drink were slim.

The people in the comment section of this video had a field day.

“I genuinely would get up and walk away,” one commenter wrote.

“May this love never find me,” said another person.

“Just ask why he still has to rely on mommy,” a snarky commenter shared.

Sadly, this isn’t anything new — because a few other women in the comments shared that they experienced this too.

“THIS HAPPENED TO ME TOO,” one commenter wrote.

“WAS YOU ON A DATE WITH MY EX?” someone else commented.

“I just found out my 1st boyfriend’s mom still manages his bank account. we’re 28 years old,” divulged another commenter.

It’s fair to say that dating can be expensive — especially in this economy — but there are plenty of men who won’t bat an eyelash at whatever a date costs them.

And that is what we call — a green flag.
