6-day-old baby passes away after drinking water

A heartbreaking incident has surfaced on social media, where a six-day-old baby lost its life after being given water, despite medical advice against it.

According to a viral post on TikTok, the mother had been strictly instructed by doctors not to give her newborn any water until six months of age.

However, upon returning home, she faced persistent pressure from her mother-in-law, who insisted that giving water to newborns was common practice in her time and had no adverse effects.

The woman who shared the story narrated:

This woman gave birth to her baby on a Monday. The hospital advised her not to give the baby water until six months later. But when she got home, her mother-in-law pressured her, saying she had always given water to newborns, and nothing ever happened.”

Despite the mother’s initial resistance, the baby was eventually given water. By Saturday, she noticed unusual changes in the infant’s condition.

Alarmed, the family rushed the baby to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed the child with water intoxication—caused by excessive water intake. Tragically, the baby could not be saved.

As the story circulated online, concerned individuals flooded the comment section, expressing their shock and grief over the devastating loss.
