Many inland parts of Queensland remain on alert today for significant flooding.

A flood watch warning extends from the Gulf Country all the way to south-east Queensland, while several major rivers remain under threat of spilling over and causing more havoc across the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology has a major flood warning in place for the Bulloo, Flinders, Georgina, Paroo, Thomson, Barcoo and Warrego Rivers.

While Queenslanders are no stranger to extreme weather events the financial toll of this week’s floods is on the rise.

Nationals leader David Littleproud said the loss of sheep and cattle could reach the millions, however it may take a while before the full impact is known.

“I got their bad news yesterday that there wasn’t a lot left, and we’ll just see how big the stock damages are,” he told Today.

“This could be as big as what happened in 2019 in north-west Queensland.

“Over a million livestock lost, so we’ll wait and see.”
