CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Illinois guard Tre White is entering the transfer portal after just one season with the team.

White played in 32 games for U of I in the 2024-25 campaign, starting 31 times. He averaged 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. The Dallas, Texas native played a combined 60 minutes in two NCAA tournament games for Illinois.

He shot 50% from the field and 32.9% from three on the season. White, a 6-foot-7 wing, scored a season high 22 points against Iowa on March 13. He scored 15+ points in nine different games with the Fighting Illini.

White becomes the third Illinois men’s basketball player to depart from the team after the conclusion of the season. Big men Carey Booth and Morez Johnson Jr. both entered the portal, too.

White will now seek to find a fourth school in four years. He began his career at USC, then made a stop at Louisville before joining the Illini.
