President Trump swiftly navigated his response to bombshell reports of Cabinet members conversing about the United States’ strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen via Signal, an online messaging platform, this week after it was revealed that The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg was inadvertently added to the chain, where sensitive information was shared.

The journalist shared the details about the chat in a Monday article entitled “The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans” and followed up with an additional piece days later showcasing more screenshots of communications between Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, national security adviser Mike Waltz, and other officials.

Goldberg spent the next few days defending what he saw and explaining why it mattered to the American public while Trump’s high ranking national security leaders denied the recap of the virtual exchange and deflected when directly questioned about the severity of the breach.

The write up, which documented the thread filled with emojis and precise attack sequences, captivated the news cycle and is likely to be the focus of this week’s Sunday shows.

The Atlantic’s top editor will likely address more of what he learned about the Pentagon’s protocol under Hegseth during his Sunday appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

He’ll be joined by Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) who may testify to the GOPs internal response to the Trump administration’s actions behind closed doors and any pending punishments.

This week’s fallout drove Democrats to demand a strict adherence to policy and years of standing tradition amid the lack of ramifications for top defense officials caught leaking general updates on military strikes.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and many others have called for Hegseth and Waltz to resign or be removed.

The Virginia Democrat will likely share more of his thoughts about Signalgate during a Sunday appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” and Fox News’s “Fox News Sunday.”

While some debated about those in charge of defense strategy, international communities were bracing for the impact of promised and proposed tariffs. The threat of higher levies has raised concerns about consumer prices and inflation swelling margins for the cost of living.

National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett may speak to the scheduled tariff announcement on April 2 amid looming deadlines for reports on the country’s ability to sustain itself on wood and copper products produced at home. These topics and more will be explored during this weekend’s talk shows.
