SAVANNAH, Ga. () — A settlement agreement has been reached in a gender discrimination lawsuit between the Chatham County District Attorney (DA) and a former Chatham County Assistant DA.
The settlement stems from a 2022 gender discrimination case where Attorney Skye Musson said she was passed over for a lead attorney position by a much less qualified male attorney while working for Jones.
Musson further alleged that Jones fostered a “bro culture” when she took over the DA’s office in January 2021.
Savannah Morning News reported that a $345,000 agreement has been reached, $344,900 in Jones’ official capacity as District Attorney and $100 in Jones’ individual capacity.
Jones was sanctioned by Judge R. Stan Baker, of the Southern District of Georgia, for what the judge claimed was attempting to avoid appearing for a deposition in the case in Oct. 2023.
A notice of appeal requesting the court ignore a judge’s order was filed in federal court one month later by attorneys for Jones.
