Aurndrea Evans teaches gifted students at Goshen Elementary School. She works with all of the children here from 1st grade all the way up to 5th.
“So my job is to challenge them, and to provide enrichment activities,” Evans says. “And just work with their skills and cultivate their skills to push them even higher and further.”
It’s all about a hands-on approach in here.
“I incorporate a lot of music, a lot of movement. I don’t make them stay seated very long. We don’t do a whole lot of worksheets. But I think if you just keep them moving, keep them hands on and engaged.”
And when she’s not teaching she still finds time to help children. Case in point: the book she wrote. I Am Loved helps families discuss divorce.
“Because I know that can be a topic that’s hard. My children went through that, and I saw that they were struggling with that. So I wrote the book to help them with their healing process and also to have that conversation and remind them that they are loved and to help them with their family dynamics.”
Aurndrea Evans has a deep love for learning. A love that’s contagious.
“I truly love it and it just kinds of rubs off on them,” she says. “I think your attitude has a lot to do with it. So I think if you have a good attitude about learning, your students will too.”
