Gerry Turner is the first Golden Bachelor, but it doesn’t look like the experience kick-started a career in reality TV. Although he had a great time, it was a one-time thing for him, and he surprised everyone by turning down the offer to join Bachelor in Paradise.

For the first time, the Golden men and women will be joining BiP, but Gerry has no interest. His marriage to Theresa Nist wasn’t exactly successful, so is he disillusioned with the show, or is there something else going on?

Why Did Gerry Turner Turn Down Bachelor In Paradise?

On March 24, Bachelor host Jesse Palmer announced a shocking plot twist for the upcoming 10th season of Bachelor in Paradise. On this occasion, fan favorites from The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette will be a part of it.

“So, this is really happening,” Jesse announced during the finale of season 29 of The Bachelor.

“So how is this whole thing going to work?” Jesse teased. “You’re going to have to tune in to find out when an all-new Bachelor in Paradise premieres this summer.”

Fans still don’t know how it’s going to work, but one thing is for certain: Gerry Turner will not be a part of it.

Considering that he’s the Golden Bachelor, it might be a disappointment for some fans, but according to TMZ, Gerry’s not interested in returning to the franchise.

Gerry told TMZ that the simple reason why he won’t be joining Bachelor in Paradise is that he already knows all the women who will be going, and he knows he’s not interested in exploring a relationship with any of them. He has already met them and proved that there is no “spark” with any of them, so he doesn’t see the point.

Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist’s Relationship In The Golden Bachelor

Gerry Turner met Theresa Nist on The Golden Bachelor, and the two of them got married in a televised ceremony in early 2024. However, only three months after tying the knot, they announced that they were calling things off.

The estranged couple announced their decision with a joint appearance on Good Morning America, shocking fans who were rooting for them.

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and we’ve come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Gerry explained.

“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched The Golden Bachelor, and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope. We want none of that to change for anybody,” Theresa added.

While it was a nice experience, Gerry didn’t end up getting the kind of long-term relationship he wanted out of The Golden Bachelor, so it makes sense that he wouldn’t want to try again so soon.
