3 South Carolina golfers compete at Augusta Women's National Amateur

AUGUSTA, Ga. () — Three South Carolina student-athletes competed in the first round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur at the Champion’s Retreat Golf Club Wednesday.

Eila Galitsky, Louise Rydqvist and Hannah Darling all represented the Gamecocks in the event.

Eila Galitsky led the Gamecock golfers with a first-round score of 70. Galitsky sunk three birdies on the first nine, and cruised her way to two-under par.

Louise Rydqvist had the second-best finish out of South Carolina players with a first-round score of 72. Rydqvist double bogeyed the first hole and proceeded to birdie on each of the last three holes on the first nine.

Hannah Darling was the third Gamecock competing. She finished the first nine at even-par but went +3 on the second nine to finish with a score of 75.

The leader after day one is American Megha Ganne, she finished nine strokes under par.

Thursday for round two Rydqvist will tee off at 8:23 a.m., Darling at 8:35 a.m., and Galitsky at 9:44 a.m.
