() New York Mayor Eric Adams’ federal bribery case has been dismissed with prejudice, court records show.

The case has been dropped with prejudice, meaning the government cannot bring these charges against Adams again in the future.

In a letter filed Wednesday, Judge Dale Ho noted pursuing the case after the Department of Justice’s order to drop it would be “futile,” local affiliate PIX11 reports.

“Some will undoubtedly find today’s decision unsatisfying,” Ho wrote. “The Court again emphasizes that it does not express any opinion as to the merits of the case or whether the prosecution of Mayor Adams ‘should’ move forward. The Court notes only that it has no authority to require that it continue.”

Ho put such a decision in the court of public opinion.

“It is the public’s judgment, and not this Court’s, that truly matters,” Ho wrote.

Adams was indicted in September on federal charges including bribery, solicitation of a contribution by a foreign national and wire fraud.

Adams has consistently maintained his innocence.
