() A Washington man was arrested Saturday after allegedly violating an order of protection by breaking into his former girlfriend’s home and stealing her beloved pet chicken.
Deputies with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said a woman called for help, saying her former partner showed up to her house and kicked in the back door.
He then grabbed the chicken, saying “I’ve got Polly” several times before fleeing. Authorities later found the 50-year-old man hiding in a wooded area holding the chicken.
The man was later booked on charges of residential burglary and violating an order of protection. County records show the man had been released from custody nearly three hours before the incident.
According to a local news outlet, the man appeared in court Monday and is facing a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, a $20,000 fine for burglary and $5,000 in fines for violating a court order.
The chicken was returned to its owner after the arrest.
