Sia’s estranged husband, Daniel Bernard, fired back at the singer in divorce court and asked a judge to award him spousal support, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Daniel filed a response to the entertainer’s petition on Thursday, April 3. Daniel listed the date of marriage as December 28, 2022, and the date of separation as March 18.

Sia, 49, and Daniel share a 1-year-old named Somersault Wonder Bernad, born in March 2024.

In his filing, Daniel admitted the marriage was over due to “irreconcilable differences.”

He asked the court to award him joint legal and physical custody of their son. He also asked that Sia be ordered to pay him monthly spousal support and terminate her right to collect support.

In regard to community property, Daniel noted, “The true nature and extent of community/quasi-community assets and debts are unknown to [Daniel] at this time. [Daniel] will amend his Response when same have been ascertained.”

Sia filed her divorce paperwork on March 19. She also cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

The singer was on the same page with Daniel about custody, with her also requesting joint legal and physical custody of the child. Sia and Daniel wed at Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Villa Olivetta in Portofino, Italy, according to People.

The ceremony only had six guests. Prior to her relationship to Daniel, Sia was married to Erik Anders Lang, before the two split in December 2016. Sia adopted two teenage boys before she married Daniel.

The singer welcomed the kids into her family in 2019.

“Now that I’ve decided to be single for the rest of my life and I just adopted a son, I don’t have time for a relationship,” Sia told GQ in 2020.

In 2020, Sia announced she had become a grandmother after one of the two teens she adopted had welcomed babies.

Back in 2009, when asked about her sexuality, she said, “I’ve always dated boys and girls and anything in between. I don’t care what gender you are, it’s about people. … I’ve always been … well, flexible is the word I would use.’”

In 2013, Sia labeled herself “queer” on social media. Sia continued to open up about herself in 2019 when she announced she has a neurological disorder and suffers from chronic pain.

“I just wanted to say to those of you suffering from pain, whether physical or emotional, I love you, keep going,” Sia wrote in a post.

“Pain is demoralizing, and you’re not alone,” the singer added.

Sia became a household name when she released the 2013 song “Elastic Heart,” followed by another smash hit “Chandelier”.

For many years, Sia did not show her face during events or performances. She often wore a massive blonde wig to hide her appearance from the public.

During one interview, she explained her decision as wanting privacy.

“I’m trying to have some control over my image. And I’m allowed to maintain some modicum of privacy. But also, I would like not to be picked apart or for people to observe when I put on ten pounds or take off ten pounds or I have a hair extension out of place or my fake tan is botched. Most people don’t have to be under that pressure, and I’d like to be one of them,” she said.
