Khloe Kardashian and Amari Thompson share a special bond. Recently, the 40-year-old reflected on Amari’s health, stating that, “every day we have with him is a blessing.”

On a recent episode of The Kardashians, the Good American co-founder detailed her bond with her ex-boyfriend’s brother as they all celebrated Amari’s 18th birthday last summer.
“Amari turning 18 is a huge milestone for him. It’s a huge accomplishment, and every day we have with him is a blessing,” Kardashian said as they showed a clip of the celebration where Amari had a brief seizure.
“When you meet someone that’s so wonderful and then something so terrible happens to them, you do want to help. You do want to fix it and be there as much as you can. I think my mom feels the exact same way. She has such a connection to Amari, and so to not be able to do much, it is really hard.”
Kardashian continued in a confessional moment, “When Amari’s having a seizure, I know how to stay calm. I’m around Amari a lot. I’ve seen a lot of seizures, he has multiple seizures a day. I know what to do in these situations, but someone who hasn’t been exposed to that and hasn’t seen that, it can be very scary, and it’s a very helpless feeling.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers player was granted custody of his younger brother last year. According to the court documents at the time, “The Court finds that it is not in the Minor best interest to be returned to his/her parents’ previous country of nationality” of Canada, where Amari was born. The court also found “reunification” between Amari and Trevor, [their biological father], is “not viable due to neglect, abandonment under California law.”
Thompson’s mother died suddenly of a reported heart attack in Toronto, Canada. Since his mother’s death, the teen had been living with his older brother in California. Amari suffers from Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
Kardashian shares two children with Thompson, True, 6, and Tatum, 2.
