PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. () – A Port Wentworth mother said she and her daughter have been living among hundreds of bees in her apartment for a year and a half.

“I’ve had bees in my walls and in my ceiling and they are not going away,” said Jessica Pryear, “The apartment is not fixing the issue, and I don’t know what else to do. We’re getting stung to death.”

Pryear invited into her home at Rice Creek Apartments Friday, and said swarms of bees enter in through the vents daily.

“We hear them in the vents,” said Pryear. “It sounds like a helicopter almost. They make a loud sound in the vents, and when they shoot out, they go to lights, and even when we turn the lights off, they go to the TV.”

Leaving honey and pollen on her walls, and stinging her and her family, Pryear said she has had enough after an ongoing back-and-forth with property management.

“My daughter’s gotten stung, my boyfriend’s gotten stung. We gotten stung multiple times, and I’ve called three different bee people,” said Pryear, “They said they’ll do the job, but nobody is willing to cut into the building until the apartment approves it, and the apartment has not done that yet.”

She also said the problem continues to worsen.

“I’m killing probably 30 to 50 a day or not killing or just removing them and putting them outside,” she said, “but outside we probably see like 500 to 1000 a day, like coming in and out.”

She said she reached out to in hopes to see change.

“I just want them moved somewhere else. I know a lot of people are willing to come and move the hive, so they don’t have to kill them, and that’s fine because that’s the only way to get rid of them.”

made contact with Rice Creek property management, and a representative told us they do not have a comment at this time.
