A Florida man is behind bars for allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump in a post on social media, Sunshine State law enforcement say.
Glen DeCicco stands accused of one count of intimidation via written or electronic threats to kill or inflict bodily harm on another, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records.
The arrest was announced Friday evening in a terse press release issued by the Jupiter Police Department.
“The investigation began after JPD was alerted to a concerning Facebook post,” the release reads. “Detectives reviewed DeCicco’s social media activity and confirmed that he had made a written threat directed at the President.”
In one post reviewed by Law&Crime, a Facebook user identified as “Glen DeCicco” appears concerned with the volatility in the global asset market – and appears to suggest a violent investment strategy.
“Winning strategy: buy QQQ, sell SQQQ today; shoot Trump tomorrow,” the post reads.
The term “QQQ” appears to reference one major exchange-traded fund (ETF) that tracks the top 103 stocks in the Nasdaq index – almost appropriately named the “Nasdaq-100.” The term “SQQQ” appears to reference an inverse, leveraged ETF that aims to give investors sizable returns – based on the opposite of what happens on the Nasdaq-100.
In other words, if the QQQ ETF goes down in value, the SQQQ ETF is likely to go up in value – and vice versa.
The Facebook user uploaded the post in question on Friday morning.
In another post that same morning, the same user wrote: “ass-ass-inat!” This one-word post, submitted a few minutes before the “strategy” post, does not reference anyone by name.
“The Jupiter Police Department worked in coordination with the United States Secret Service throughout the investigation,” the press release continues. “Detectives and Special Agents interviewed the suspect and he was taken into custody by JPD without incident.”
No further details about the alleged threats against the 45th and 47th president have been released by authorities as of this writing.
Earlier this week, a Texas man was arrested for allegedly threatening federal immigration officials on social media — including Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem.
“I truly hope, and I mean this with all my heart, that Kristi Noem meets a horrible and agonizing demise I hope she is tried in a war criminal court with the rest of the Nazis when this is all over and I hope she is ripped apart in a gulag,” the defendant allegedly posted. “Nothing less for a Nazi scum. This is America now a Nazi fascist state. Disgusting.”

DeCicco is currently being detained in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.
