Rainy Sunday with a few t-storms, flash flooding possible through early Monday

A Flood Watch remains in effect for Bell, Harlan, Leslie, Letcher and Pike counties in Kentucky through Sunday afternoon as around 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is expected through Monday evening regionwide.

The Storm Team 11 Forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms. A strong to severe thunderstorm will be possible primarily through the afternoon and evening ahead of the front. Most of our viewing area is within a Marginal Risk from the Storm Prediction Center. Damaging wind is the primary concern. Locally heavy rainfall will also be likely at times with the chance of scattered flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. The high will be 73 degrees.

Tonight we will keep the threat of scattered showers and even a few rumbles of thunder under mostly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will stay mild in the upper 50s. The chance of rain is 60%.

Monday temperatures will be falling throughout the day to around 47 degrees by late afternoon, with the high occurring early in the morning. There will be a 50% chance of scattered showers under cloudy skies.

Passing showers and mountain snow showers are possible Monday night with a low of 33 degrees.

A lingering chance of showers and mountain flurries will be possible early Tuesday with afternoon sunshine. The high will be a chilly 50 degrees with a 20% chance of precipitation. Tuesday night will be clear and cold with widespread frost likely. The low will be 26 degrees.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high of 62 degrees. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with a low of 40 degrees. 

Clouds will continue to increase Thursday with a 50% chance of scattered showers by the afternoon and evening. The high will be a mild 65 degrees. Showers are likely Thursday evening with a low of 43 degrees.

More rain is expected on Friday under cloudy skies. The high will be 60 degrees with a 50% chance of rain.

Next Saturday will feature a 20% chance of lingering showers and mountain flurries early. The afternoon will be cloudy and chilly with a high near 57 degrees.
