Shocking new details have been revealed in Perth Children’s Court about the crash that killed Nick Campo.
Cocaine, no seatbelts and a race to get to a nightclub all contributed to the teenager’s death in July in North Lake, the court heard today.

Campo was hoping to end up at Leederville’s Daisy nightclub before midnight lockout when he hopped into a car after his 18th birthday party.

A court today heard the P-plate driver, who can’t be named for legal reasons, wasn’t drunk but cocaine was found in his system.

The 17-year-old ran a red light before clocking 133km/h on North Lake Road, then similar speeds moments before the crash on Farrington Road, the court heard.

That crash left Campo dead and three other passengers in the car injured.

The Toyota Hilux registered to the driver’s father’s business had been modified.

The front passenger seat was twisted 180 degrees to face backwards and not properly bolted down.

The change meant no seatbelt could be used and the driver was the only person wearing one.

The teen P-plate driver has pleaded guilty.

He voluntarily revoked his bail and will be sentenced next month.
