A TEEN girl was reportedly seen leaving her home just hours before being found dead on a hiking trail, according to cops.

Abbriella Elliot’s body was found covered in stab wounds – just weeks after she marked her 16th birthday. 

Her body was found near a Florida nature preserve by a walker just after 9:30am on March 27.

Cops have described her death as “very violent” as they suspect she was killed with an edged weapon.

Elliot left her home at 1:30am that morning and Hernando County cops revealed it’s likely she met with the person that killed her, as reported by the Fox affiliate WTVT-TV.

Police do not suspect that the killing was random.

They also believe she was killed not long after leaving her home. 

Her body was found at the Cypress Lake Preserve – located around 50 miles from Tampa. 

Cameron Cubel, 16, was named as the suspect and police revealed he was in the process of being charged with first-degree murder.

Cops revealed that Cubel and Elliot had previously known each other, but didn’t elaborate on their relationship.

But, Elliot’s parents told the CBS affiliate WTSP-TV their daughter had previously dated Cubel. 

She and Cubel reportedly ended their relationship six months ago.

Elliot’s death has left her family reeling.

“My granddaughter Abby didn’t have a chance to grow into what you’re supposed to be,” her heartbroken grandma told The Hernando Sun. 

“Her ex-boyfriend took that from her.”

Cops revealed they interviewed several people who they thought may have met with Elliot, but they turned out not to be suspects.

They then trawled through social media accounts and other devices before naming Cubel a suspect.

Elliot’s body was found just two weeks after turning 16.

She had celebrated her birthday at an Applebee’s restaurant in Brooksville, with her mom, Danyel Caltagirone.

The teen was seen beaming as she posed for a picture in front of her birthday cake.

The cake was covered in white and green icing. 

“Happy Birthday Abbriella I love you so much,” the post said.

In another post, Danyel told her daughter to “stop growing up.”

And, she revealed she was “honored” to be her mom.

The grieving parent also shared footage of Elliot driving a stick shift for the first time. 

She described the teen as a “natural.”

“God I just want to wake up from this nightmare,” Danyel posted online.

“She was an angel literally from heaven. Just want to crawl in a hole and wake up from this horrible, horrible nightmare.”

TRIBUTES PAID

Danyel paid tribute to her daughter, creating a GoFundMe page in her honor.

“She was loved by every person that met her,” she said.

“She was always smiling, and singing, and acting goofy. She had so much life ahead of her.”

The teen was also known for her “infectious smile and kindness,” as per an online obit.

“Abby’s spirit shone brightly, and she had an extraordinary ability to make others feel loved and cherished,” it said.

“Her laughter and warmth filled every room, and she had an unwavering ability to lift the spirits of everyone she met.”

Danyel has since shared pictures of her daughter’s memorial, which has been covered with flowers, balloons, and pictures.

Colorful bunches of flowers were laid at the memorial, as were candles, balloons, and memorial plaques.
