Steve Guttenberg is divorcing wife Emily Smith after six years of marriage.

The Police Academy star, 66, filed to end his marriage from the news anchor on Friday, April 4, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

The actor cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind their split, however he did not list a date of their separation.

Instead of a specific date, he wrote ‘TBD’, for ‘to be determined’ in that section of the documents.

The estranged pair had a prenuptial agreement in place, which will determine the division of any community property assets and debts.

In his filing, Steve agreed to pay Emily spousal support and requested that each party cover their own future legal fees and costs.

Steve and Emily said ‘I do’ in January 2019 and they do not have any children together.

The two were married in a private ceremony in Malibu.

The Three Men and A Baby star got hitched to CBS-TV’s Living Large reporter after they got engaged in December 2016.

‘Yes, yes, yes,’ Emily wrote on Facebook at the time, as the pair announced their engagement.

In 2017 he gushed about Emily, telling Daily Beast: ‘I don’t want to give these things a jinx, but she makes me a better person, which I really like. I have to up my game around her.’

‘She’s a very classy lady. She creates a wonderful home, her value system is terrific, and her character and integrity, and sense of humor … she’s a really nice lady.’

Steve and Emily met on a ‘blind date after being set up by WCBS-TV’s Scott Rapoport in 2014’.

Steve found fame as the star of the beloved 1980s slapstick comedy franchise Police Academy playing Officer Carey Mahoney.

There are seven films in the franchise – the first in 1984 and the last in 1994 called Police Academy: Mission to Moscow.
