One arrested after Danville teen hurt in mid-afternoon shooting

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Danville Police Department is investigating a homicide after receiving reports that a person was found dead in a home on Monday.

Police responded to the home near the intersection of Sherman Street and New Street around noon. When they arrived, they found a male victim. The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office later identified him as 41-year-old Monty Peplow of Danville.

An autopsy will be completed on Tuesday as a part of the homicide investigation. At this time, the Danville Police Department is questioning a “person of interest” about the incident. The police added that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit assisted the Danville Police Department. No further information is available at this time, according to police.
