CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — In a mission to help teenagers, the Salvation Army of Champaign County is trying something new this year.

They’ll be launching a hygiene drive and they need your help with donations. The goal is to help high schoolers in Champaign County.

Organizers said there’s a shortage in supplying students with health products. This will be the first time the Salvation Army is holding an event like this.

They’re hoping to provide 500 teens with health items. They’ll be collecting products like wet wipes, disposable razors, lotion and more.

“In order to help fill a potential gap where less or no one is helping in that area, is why we’re going down that route, why we’re going down that road,” Kenyon Sivels, Champaign County Corps Officer, said.

He said they’ll be collecting donations from now until July 24. Organizers said you can drop them off at the Salvation Army building. Organizers said the hygiene drive will be in August,
but they’re still working on selecting an actual date for that month.
