Plastic surgeon reveals the SAFEST body alteration you could ever make

Plastic surgery is becoming increasingly popular in the U.S.

And with the rising rates of people going under the knife comes the question of safety.

You’ve heard a lot about some of the more dangerous surgical procedures like BBLs, but what about some of the procedures that are the safest?

Dr. Arnold S. Breitbart, who has over three decades of experience as a plastic surgeon, recently shared with DailyMail.com that he believes the minimally invasive plastic surgery procedures are the safest options available.

And in his opinion, one of the absolute safest body alterations is liposuction.

‘The incisions are tiny and the procedure is commonly performed in an office operating room, usually under local anesthesia,’ he said.

Dr. Breitbart has been performing liposuction procedures for as long as he’s been a plastic surgeon and has done thousands on this point.

In fact, they’re so common that he does several of these surgeries a week in his office operating room.

‘I operate with advanced liposuction techniques such as SmartLipo, which uses a laser during the liposuction procedure to make the liposuction more effective,’ he said.

Dr. Breitbart explained that these liposuction procedures are likely popular because they’re ideal for patients who may be close to their ideal weight, but have areas where they want to get rid of fat.

He said that liposuction is most commonly performed on areas including the abdomen, the flanks (also known as love handles), out and inner thighs, inner knees, the back, arms, and neck.

‘I’ve performed liposuction on professional models, trainers, and athletes, who despite excellent diet, exercise, and lifestyle, still have these disproportionate areas of increased fatty fullness,’ Dr. Breitbart said.

‘Liposuction may be appropriate for somewhat heavier patients, but generally not for obese patients.

‘Patients find liposuction to be a very attractive procedure, as the procedure is outpatient and the recovery is quick.’

And while liposuction is popular, Dr. Breitbart said that he’s seen an increase in patients seeking plastic surgery for the removal of lose skin.

This is mostly due to the recent rise in GLP-1 weight loss medications like Ozempic.

‘In these massive weight loss patients, loose skin is a common secondary effect,’ he said.

‘It may affect parts of the body including the abdomen, arms, breasts, and face.

‘Procedures such as tummy tuck, arm lift, breast lift, facelift, and necklift may be indicated in these patients.’

Dr. Breitbart agrees that patients should probably steer clear of dangerous procedures like BBLs mentioned earlier.

‘In general, I discourage the use of implants placed in the buttocks, as there are increased complication rates associated with this procedure,’ he said.

But if you’re looking for a procedure that will give you bigger buttocks, he said to at least consider a fat transfer first.
