In a repeat of the 2010 Champions League final, Inter snatched a dramatic 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in Tuesday’s quarter-final first leg.

Harry Kane missed a handful of good chances in the first half and saw that profligacy punished by Lautaro Martinez’s delightful strike shortly before the interval, after which Inter were happy to sit back and defend their lead.

Bayern dominated possession after the break, pressing the visitors back in search of an equaliser, but Inter’s stubborn defence gifted them very little until the final five minutes as substitute Thomas Muller, three days after it was confirmed he will leave the club this summer, tapped home at the back post.

The Bundesliga side looked most likely to secure a winner but were stunned by an electric counter which was finished off by Davide Frattesi with three minutes to go, securing a hard-fought win for Inter ahead of next week’s return leg in Milan.
