ORLANDO, Fla. – So Florida once again saw yet ANOTHER repetitive bout of thunderstorms and localized severe weather for our Friday evening.

It was all thanks to another cool boundary working its way in from up north, having been pulled across our neighborhood by a developing area of low pressure just off our east coast.

We saw some gusty winds, pockets of hail, and some power outages as a result! Others saw very heavy rainfall in quick bursts thanks to the more organized storms that rocked through the peninsula.

Finally, today has been absolutely GORGEOUS! Clouds are fair, temperatures aren’t too hot but not too cold. All is well in the weather world. Or is it?

On the water vapor, there’s a trough extending across the eastern United States just pumping drier air into Florida. This pattern is expected to stick around for quite sometime, leaving us with little to no chance for rain moving forward (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando – All rights reserved.)

Looking ahead, despite the rhythm we’ve followed for a few weeks now, it looks like the large-scale pattern doesn’t support weekend barrages of severe weather. Truthfully, none of our models show a big shot for rain anytime soon.

High pressure stretching westward across the Atlantic will make its way into the Sunshine State providing us with nothing more than just that – consistent SUNSHINE.

Dew points and humidity may try to come up some, but with a lack of a solid trigger to form showers or storms we’ll be looking at a scarcity of rain for the next 7-14 days.

Even fast forwarding the clock into the middle, latter portions of this new week ahead the dry air lingers. There is little to no chance of much-needed rain (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando – All rights reserved.)

Our different computer models to include; the GFS, the Euro, the National Weather Service blend of models, all pinpoint the next likely hit of rain to occur as we prepare to enter the last several days of the month.

This means from now until possibly April 23 or 24, we won’t get much in terms of substantial rain.

Today marks a return of fire weather watches for many of us in central Florida, and if the dry conditions with gusty afternoon winds persists we can expect them to start to return more frequently as our previous shots of severe weather had. Unfortunately, drought conditions will continue to rise, with some of us already feeling severe drought effects as of the latest update to our drought monitor.

We’ll also have to watch closely and be very aware of how we put out cigarettes, take care of electrical equipment, leave any flames unattended, or how we smother them because wildfire risks will be climbing too.

The second half of April looks to be a warm one, as high pressure ridging dominates the southeast United States (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando – All rights reserved.)

Down the road, the summertime heat will also have us cooking not this upcoming week but the following.

Thankfully, where there’s heat there’s usually a storm system that comes along shortly afterward.

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that’s truly the case, otherwise summer may make an early entry for us here in Central Florida well before the calendar says its due to arrive!
