CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Illinois women’s basketball has its first transfer addition of the 2025 offseason.

5-foot-7 guard Aaliyah Guyton signed with the Illini on Saturday.

Guyton, a Peoria, Ill. native, comes to Champaign after one season with Iowa. She played in 29 games as a true freshman with the Hawkeyes, averaging 4.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have Aaliyah join our family,” Illinois head women’s basketball coach Shauna Green said in a statement from Illinois Athletics. “We have known Aaliyah and her family for years. We know the type of person, worker, and player that she is. Aaliyah brings Big Ten experience to us and the ability to lead our team at the point guard position. She can score at all three levels, and she is an elite defender, which is critical in our system. I cannot wait to get Aaliyah to campus!”

Guyton played 16 minutes and scored two points when the Hawkeyes visited Illinois in January.

Out of high school, ESPN ranked Guyton as the No. 58 player in the country for the class of 2024.
