URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A sense of magic only found in fairy tales was in the air at the Urbana Free Library on Friday.

The afternoon of April 11 marked the 17th Annual Fairy Tale Ball. Families participated in fairy tale activities throughout the library. This included a special quest, numerous games, crafts, dancing and more.

“It really, it’s going to sound kind of corny, you get that magical moment,” said Lauren Chambers, Urbana Library Programming and Outreach Manager. “We encourage people to come dressed up, so it’s an opportunity to come, put on your favorite fairy tale costume, or if you want to come dressed as a superhero, come dressed as a superhero. And just get to experience something that is unlike anything that they’ve done locally.”

In prior years, the library has seen close to 1,000 people come out, a figure they’re confident they reached again. Chambers said the event will return again next spring.
