The Conners is officially ending, but the cast has made sure to take some keepsakes from the show’s set to remember their characters, including John Goodman.

The actor, 72, revealed the item he brought home with him after filming of the seventh and final season of the sitcom wrapped.

“I took a garden gnome from the kitchen. It had no business being there anyway,” John said during an interview with The Los Angeles Times with his costars on Wednesday, April 9.

His costar Sara Gilbert, who plays his onscreen daughter Darlene Conner, revealed what she ended up taking from the set.

“The couch and afghan, along with the entire main kitchen and living room set are in Carsey Werner’s storage,” she told the outlet. “I took a few of the plates that hang around the archway in the kitchen, and I took the [house] address — the individual numbers. I have to mount them and frame them.”

Laurie Metcalf also ended up grabbing some mementos from the Conner household to remember her time on the show.

“I have two coffee mugs from the set,” the actress shared. “I only have to glance at them now to remember all the times I’d make an entrance through the mud room, head straight to the coffee pot and pour some into one of those mugs. A great prop — very handy!”

John also dished on working with Katey Sagal, who plays his onscreen wife, Louise, in The Conners.

“Well, that’s just Katey. I don’t think we could have gotten away with it with anybody else,” he said of their characters’ dynamic. “I think Dan was looking forward to playing the field a little bit, but Katey is so great. We hit it off naturally.”

Sadly, season 7 of The Conners is only six episodes, but the cast assured fans it was enough time to wrap up the stories for each of the main characters.

“I’m happy with what we have,” Sara, 50, said. “We could have taken a full season to do it but, that said, there was something nice about working in this smaller framework, almost like a limited series. We did take one idea and weave it throughout the six episodes in a way that would have been different in a longer season.”

Executive producer Dave Caplan agreed that they were able to give the characters the ending they deserved in such a limited amount of time.

“I would say we had to be very efficient with our time,” he remarked. “These are very long arcs for these characters, so to bring them to a satisfying conclusion in six episodes was a challenge, but I think we all feel pretty good about pulling it off.”

The Conners season 7 finale was taped last October. Ahead of the April 23 air date, ABC released the plot of the show’s final episode.

“Jackie prepares for a series of physical tests in an effort to rejoin the police force; Darlene confronts the insecurities in her marriage with Ben; Dan’s deposition stirs up feelings, and final farewells are made in true Conner family fashion,” the official logline says.

The Conners airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
