AUSTIN (KXAN) Several first responders in northwest Austin were at the scene of a house collapse Sunday after several callers heard a loud boom in the area.

According to the Austin Fire Department, the house collapsed in the 10400 block of Double Spur Loop. There was currently no information on what caused the collapse.

One person was found and removed from the residence and was being evaluated by medics. Austin-Travis County EMS reported it was responding to reports of multiple patients.

In an update, AFD said three total patients were extricated with ATCEMS providing treatment. One firefighter was also reported to have minor injuries related to the incident.

“A two-story house sustained damage from an unknown event that caused [the] house to collapse,” AFD said.

KXAN obtained video of the scene. It shows a fire still burning, debris—including a large pile of wood—scattered throughout the area, what appears to be a burned-out vehicle, and damage one or more homes.

“AFD crews are extinguishing small spot fires in the collapsed debris. Several neighboring houses were damaged,” AFD said. “1 house completely collapsed 1 house partial collapse.”

The explosion’s “boom” was heard and felt in the areas as far as Cedar Park and Leander, according to KXAN viewers.

“We are aware of the loud ‘boom’ that was heard and felt throughout the city,” Cedar Park Police said in an X post. “We received reports that there was an explosion, but it was in the Austin area.”

Texas Gas Service was on scene. KXAN has reached out for a statement.

This is a developing story. Check back with KXAN for more details.
