In early April, Prince Harry made a trip to the UK for another court appearance relating to security. Back in 2020, when Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal roles, the UK chose to strip them of their taxpayer-funded security; Harry has been fighting to get it back ever since.

After losing the legal battle in 2024, Harry vowed to keep pushing, which meant he had to head back to the UK in early April 2025. But after the court appearance, Harry told reporters that, while listening during the hearing, a worst fear of his had been realized.

Harry was back in court in London in early April, and according to reports, the prince was highly focused on the case; he was taking notes on the situation and listening intently. Harry has been adamant about gaining security back for his family. He hasn’t brought his family back — Meghan or the couple’s two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet — to the UK since 2022, and he has said in the past that he simply won’t let his family into the UK until they have proper security.

After leaving the courtroom, though, Harry did open up to reporters a bit about what happened inside, and he made some interesting comments. According to People, the prince said he was “exhausted and overwhelmed” after the court hearing, and added that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case — and that’s really sad.” Allegedly, the hearing revealed that stripping Harry of his security was essentially a way to trap him and Meghan into remaining with the royal family; however, the two were so desperate to get out, that they recognized they would rather cut ties with Harry’s family than come back.

Prince Harry didn’t meet up with his father while in the UK

For a while, things between Harry and his father haven’t been great. Harry did see King Charles last year; the prince flew to the UK to speak to his father after Charles’ cancer diagnosis was revealed. However, things reportedly haven’t been on the best terms ever since.

Harry and Charles’ relationship has been rocky for quite a while, and sources suggest Harry does believe his father can intervene in the security matters and help him out; there have been mixed comments as to whether that is feasible or not. Unfortunately, Harry and his father did not meet up during Harry’s brief UK trip, which suggests the relationship between the father and son still needs work.
