One found dead after fire, Macon Co. Sheriff's Office investigating

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A person was found dead at the scene of a structure fire on Sunday in Macon County.

Around 10 a.m., Macon County deputies responded to a fire near the intersection of Ridge Road and S. 70th St, at the request of the Long Creek Fire Department.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police were called to the scene by the Long Creek Fire Department after a body was found. The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with additional information regarding this incident contact Sergeant Woods at 217-424-0867.

WCIA reached out to the Macon County Coroner’s Office for more information but they were not immediately available for comment. The sheriff’s office said more information may become available as the investigation continues.
