The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says the argument was “over something that was minor.”
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was taken to a Jacksonville hospital in critical condition Tuesday after being shot inside of a vehicle during an argument in the city’s East Arlington area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sgt. Richardson said that at approximately 3:33 a.m., officers responded to the 11000 block of Atlantic Boulevard after the sheriff’s office received a call about the man being shot.
Police said the man and four others, who were all not identified, were in a car heading west on Atlantic Boulevard when the man and one of the other individuals got into an argument, which later “turned physical.”
Richardson said punches were thrown during the argument, which he said was “over something that was minor.”
When officers arrived, Richardson said they detained everyone who was in the vehicle. They were all later brought to the Police Memorial Building downtown to be interviewed. The individual who shot the man was arrested, according to Richardson.
Detectives responded to the scene and canvassed the area for surveillance video, as well as spoke with witnesses, according to JSO.
Although JSO said the incident is believed to be isolated, the agency is asking anyone with information on it to contact their non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
