MSNBC host scrambles to correct guest who made outrageous claim on air

An MSNBC host was forced to scramble to correct a guest live on the air after it was claimed that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is a ‘Russian agent.’

Ayman Mohyeldin stepped in on Monday after co-panelist Danielle Moodie-Mills disparaged Gabbard and her decision to nominate failed Congressional candidate Joe Kent as director of the National Counterterrorism Center.

‘I really hope that alternate universe me is really enjoying, like, a life that is nicer than where we are right now in this hellhole,’ she said. ‘You know, why are we shocked?

‘You know, we learned that she was a Russian agent. They celebrated her, you know. So why do we think that?’

Mohyeldin then interjected: ‘We learned that she was a Russian agent?’

‘Yes,’ Moodie-Mills responded, to which Mohyeldin questioned: ‘Where did we learn that?’

Moodie-Mills, the host of the ‘Woke AF’ podcast, cited Gabbard’s well-known feud with Hillary Clinton, who accused Gabbard in 2019 of being ‘groomed’ by Russia to run for president.

Despite no evidence being produced to support the conspiracy against Gabbard, Moodie-Mills justified her claim on Monday by saying: ‘We heard it mentioned by Hillary Clinton during her debate.’

Moodie-Mills then questioned whether ‘we look into Tulsi Gabbard?’, to which Mohyeldin again cut in: ‘Unproven.’

The podcaster then conceded, saying: ‘Unproven, okay, okay.’

Mohyeldin added: ‘Unproven allegation – no, I’m serious, I mean ‘agent’ is a very strong word of a foreign state.’

Despite the correction, Moodie-Mills then went on to lament how some figures in President Trump’s orbit are praised on Russian media.

‘I don’t know anybody else that gets celebrated on Russian television other than, I don’t know, Tucker Carlson. Right? Right. And Donald Trump. Right?’ she said.

‘So, people who don’t have allegations about them don’t get celebrated in this way.’

The issue of Gabbard being portrayed favorably by Russian state media previously came up during her 2020 run for the White House.

Hillary Clinton made several inflammatory attacks against Gabbard’s candidacy, including at one stage calling the veteran a ‘traitor’ to America.

In another podcast appearance in October 2019, Clinton did not call out Gabbard by name, but slated her candidacy by saying: ‘She’s the favorite of the Russians, they have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far, and that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not, because she’s also a Russian asset.’

At the time, Gabbard brushed off the link as she said that she ‘can’t control’ how Russia was covering her.

‘I don’t control what anyone else says or does. All I can do is focus on the message that I am bringing to this campaign. The message that I am delivering to voters in this country,’ she said on the campaign trail.

Gabbard even went on to file a lawsuit against Clinton, and said she believed Clinton’s animosity toward her was retaliation for Gabbard endorsing Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primary.

She later dropped the lawsuit, saying that decision was to focus on her campaign and prioritize ‘defeating Donald Trump in 2020, rather than righting the wrongs here.’

Unlike many of her critics who accuse her of treason, Gabbard has fought for her country, serving as a US Army Reservist and completing a 12 month tour of Iraq in 2004.
