Seth Rogen seized the opportunity to call out tech entrepreneurs who support Donald Trump while presenting an award at the star-studded 2025 Breakthrough Prize ceremony, where noted Trump supporters Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg were also in attendance. But the joke he cracked calling out President Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for “single-handedly” destroying science has since been cut from the livestream.

Luckily for us, the joke had already been reported on before it could be scrubbed from the YouTube stream.

The Studio star took the stage with Edward Norton to present the Special Prize in Fundamental Physics to theoretical physicist Gerard ‘t Hooft when he called out certain attendees “in this room” for supporting President Trump’s election.

“It’s amazing that others in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science,” he said, per The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320 million and RFK Jr., very fast.”

Per THR, the joke was not meant with much laughter as Norton joked they received “light applause.”

“I’d say that’s a smattering,” Rogen responded.

Rogen’s joke was likely aimed at the likes of Elon Musk, who is leading the Department of Government Efficiency, which has ordered numerous federal layoffs across multiple departments. Zuckerberg also donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund and rolled back Meta’s fact checking, further aligning with Musk and Trump’s agenda. Bezos’ Amazon also promised a $1 million donation to Trump’s inauguration.

This isn’t the first time Rogen has been censored during an awards ceremony. He was bleeped during the live broadcast of the Golden Globes earlier this year when he cracked a joke about playing Ryan Gosling in an “unauthorized” biopic that included the Barbie star’s stint on The Mickey Mouse Club when he was a child.

“It was unauthorized and –,” Rogen began telling Catherine O’Hara until his answer was cut short. When his audio returned, he was saying, “… controversial, but we felt very important to depict.”

According to reports from that evening, Rogen reportedly said, “And the Mickey Mouse Club handjob scene was controversial, but we felt very important to depict.”

Rogen and O’Hara’s hilarious bit that evening was enough to get fans ready to see the stars on-screen together in Apple TV+’s new series, The Studio.
