WASHINGTON — As Easter 2025 approaches, many Americans are planning ahead for banking needs and shipping deadlines around the holiday weekend.

This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 20, with Good Friday observed on April 18.

MORE: What’s open and closed on Easter? Here’s a full list

Is the post office open on Good Friday?

The United States Postal Service will maintain normal operations on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. As is standard for any Sunday, regular mail delivery and retail services will not be available on Easter Sunday.

The exception is Priority Mail Express, which continues to be delivered 365 days a year, including holidays and Sundays.

Are banks open on Easter and Good Friday?

Most major banks will be open Friday as Good Friday is not a federally recognized holiday, and follow their typical Sunday closure schedule on Easter Sunday. Most branches of Bank of America, CitiBank, JP Morgan Chase, PNC, Truist and Wells Fargo will be closed April 20.

Capital One said its branches and cafes will maintain normal scheduled hours on both Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Customers are advised to check specific branch hours using the Capital One location finder.

For all banks, ATM services and online banking will remain accessible throughout the holiday weekend.

Are UPS and FedEx open on Easter?

Both major private shipping companies will have limited services during Easter:

UPS: Regular pickup and delivery services will not be available on Easter Sunday. UPS Store locations are likely to be closed, though hours vary by location. UPS Express Critical service remains available every day of the year for urgent shipping needs.

FedEx: Most FedEx pickup and delivery services will be suspended on Easter Sunday. FedEx Office locations will operate with modified hours, with variations by location. FedEx Custom Critical service will continue to be available 24/7 for time-sensitive deliveries.

For both shipping companies, customers should check with their local stores for specific operating hours during the holiday weekend.
