URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — If you’re looking for a place to relax but don’t want to leave Central Illinois, the Ujima Retreat may be for you.

The Ujima Retreat Center in Urbana is expanding and hoping to give people a taste of a luxury getaway not too far from home. They just celebrated their ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce.

Now, their goal is to grow and impact people in Central Illinois and beyond. They have a hot tub, a pond for fishing, and a sauna, just to name a few. Leadership said the attractions give people a way to heal and connect with nature.

“You know, even our family, back during COVID, we were experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety. And once, we went hiking, actually in Missouri. And when we were there, we noticed our kids, their stress, anxiety, everything went away. And at that moment, we realized that that was a solution, healing through nature,” Ujima Retreat Co-Founder Banio Koroma Jr. said.

He said even if you’re not fully open to staying outdoors, they also have a glamping experience for people to try. To book a retreat click here.
