Fox News Sean Hannity lays into Taylor Lorenz over Luigi Mangione comments

During a segment on Fox News, Sean Hannity criticized journalist Taylor Lorenz, questioning her judgment and suggesting that she was lacking common sense. Hannity’s comments were in response to Lorenz’s peculiar statements regarding Luigi Mangione, who is accused of shooting the CEO.

The conservative media personality sparred with Lorenz in a tense back-and-forth over her questionable remarks about the violent death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, 50, and demanded to know if she condemned fans of the 26-year-old Mangione.

“Will you say that anyone that’s praising this guy doesn’t have a soul, a conscience and a heart?” Hannity asked Lorenz, who offered a bewildering response.

“I don’t believe in things like religious things like souls and all these things,” she said.

When Hannity repeated the question, Lorenz also went off topic.

“I believe that every one of the 70,000 Americans that die each year because of lack of health insurance also has a heart,” she said.

Hannity kept prodding her with the same question, but Lorenz deflected each time.

“When you talk about souls, that’s not really my specialty. What I do specialize in is extremism,” Lorenz before Hannity cut in with an “obviously.”

Earlier in the primetime interview with the ex-Washington Post columnist, Hannity confronted Lorenz over her past statements about the high-profile murder.

The technology reporter previously said she felt “joy” about the assassination of the married father and this week she attempted to rationalize the legions of Mangione supporters.

“You’re gonna see women especially that feel like, ‘Oh my God, here’s this man who’s a revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who’s young, who’s smart, he’s a person that seems like this morally good man,’ which is hard to find,” Lorenz said on CNN.

Lorenz claimed Wednesday night she never said she felt joy over the death, but felt joy “that the brutality of our healthcare system was finally being acknowledged.”

“I believe that our current healthcare system is murderous,” she added.

Hannity then laid into her.

“Your comments basically put your seal of approval on murder and assassination, and I’m trying to understand, whether you like this guy or like the way he does business or not, you’re advocating and putting a smiley face on assassination, and I’m trying to understand what is in your soul that doesn’t understand he’s a father and a husband here,” Hannity said.

“What are you missing? There seems to be a missing chip with you,” he added.

Lorenz also claimed that the fawning comments about Mangione, who could face the death penalty if convicted at the federal level, is how other people think about him.

“I’m describing the mentality of these fan girls that show up at Luigi’s court and show up outside his jail cell,” Lorenz said.
