‘The Golden Bachelor’ star Gerry Turner’s father died in January 2025. Here’s what to know about Everett’s death — and what he thought of Theresa Nist.
The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner put his love life on reality TV in 2023 and faced a deeply personal loss in early 2025. Gerry often credited his father with shaping his values and outlook on life. Sadly, Gerry’s father, Everett, died at 93 in January of this year. Here’s what we know about Everett’s death.

The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner blazed the path for the senior version of ABC’s hit reality series, The Bachelor. Gerry fell for Theresa Nist and had a televised wedding that included stars from across Bachelor Nation. Unfortunately, Gerry’s rise to stardom wasn’t always easy. He was hit with allegations that he lied about his dating history after the death of his first wife, Toni Turner. Additionally, he and Theresa divorced shortly after tying the knot, adding fuel to the fire.
Sadly, Gerry’s father, Everett, died on Jan. 28, 2025, at his home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was 93. Everett is survived by his wife, Norma “Peggy” Berkes-Turner, and his three sons, one daughter, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Everett’s family held a Celebration of Life on Feb. 15, 2025. In March 2025, Gerry filed to be the personal representative of Everett’s estate.
Everett was a loyal Golden Bachelor viewer. However, he expressed doubts regarding Gerry’s marriage to Theresa. “I had Leslie picked out,” he told The U.S. Sun. “For some reason, I just didn’t care for Theresa. I was 60% for Leslie and 40% for Theresa. I couldn’t say why. Right off the bat, Theresa rubbed me the wrong way.”
Gerry didn’t post to social media about his father’s death. On June 16, 2024, he posted a series of Instagram photos to celebrate Father’s Day. Gerry posed with Everett in one of the photos.
“Another great Father’s Day,” he captioned the post. “The best daughters a dad could ask for, the best dad a son could ever have, and the best golf buddies on earth. Thanks to all who made this a wonderful Father’s Day.”
