PITTSBURG, Kan. The two daycare workers charged with abusing and neglecting an infant left in their care pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Madison Thompson and Whitney Henderson entered their guilty pleas in Crawford County Court to amended charges.

Thompson pleaded guilty to aggravated battery, aggravated child endangerment, two additional counts of child endangerment, and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

According to the plea agreement, the prosecutor agrees to a combined sentence of 48 months, with 16 months served in prison and 32 months in jail.

But the agreement also says the prosecutor will ask the judge to grant Thompson probation rather than incarceration.

Henderson pleaded guilty to three counts of child endangerment.

The possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal weapons charges were dismissed.
Henderson did not enter into a plea agreement.

Both are scheduled for sentencing in June.

The two admitted to harming Benny Cannon, who was just four months old at the time.

Doctors say his brain was deprived of oxygen for a lengthy period of time. They also say that’s what caused him to develop cerebral palsy, along with hip and vision problems.

We spoke to Benny’s mom Tuesday who says Benny has recovered better than doctors first predicted but he will suffer these lifelong debilitating problems.
