PARIS, Ill. (WCIA) — The Edgar County Sheriff’s Office has their eyes on an unnamed suspect after a Paris man was killed in a hit-and-run this past weekend.
On Saturday, April 12 at approximately 8:27 p.m., the Edgar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call regarding a deceased person in the roadway of 1200th Road in Paris. The Edgar County Coroner’s confirmed that 34-year-old Dakota J. Gibson was pronounced dead at the scene after a vehicle hit him from behind and fled the scene.
After initiating an investigation that day, the Sheriff’s Office has reviewed evidence, followed leads, interviewed witnesses and coordinated with other departments and offices to develop a suspect.
At this time, a request for a warrant has been submitted to the Edgar County State’s Attorney’s Office for the arrest of a suspect in connection to this investigation. Additional information will be released as the case progresses.
